METTLACH Comes to Grand Theatre This March!
METTLACH, performed in German, with French language parts, will play at the Grand Theatre in Luxembourg from March 12th to 14th, 2019.
Who comes from where, who speaks which language, where do parents, grandparents and great-grandparents come from? In the Greater Region family stories mix across national borders. The two young German-Francophone authors Magali Tosato and Lydia Dimitrow draw on this wealth. At the center of their research project is The Town of Mettlach in the Saarland, near the German-Luxembourg border and the headquarters of the global corporation Villeroy & Boch. The history of the Franco-German family business is closely linked with Luxembourg and, not least, thanks to these multinational roots, the rise to become a global player among ceramic manufacturers.
Magali Tosato, born in 1988 in Lausanne, studied history and literature at the University of Lausanne and directing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts Ernst Busch in Berlin. Back in Lausanne, she founded the theater collective mikro-kit with Lydia Dimitrow and the stage designer Franziska Keune. In 2015 she was awarded the scholarship for junior directors of the canton of Vaud and the city of Lausanne. Magali Tosato works as a freelance director and author, most recently in Lausanne, Berlin and La Réunion.
Lydia Dimitrow, born 1989 in Berlin, studied General and Comparative Literature, French Philology and Modern German Literature at the Free University of Berlin and at the Université de Lausanne. She works as a freelance author, dramaturge and translator from French and English.
