Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts Offers Free Art Shops 11/19

The Kentucky Center Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) will provide high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors with the opportunity to spend a day in a facility close to their hometown in a "hands-on" arts enrichment opportunity. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a master class, in their particular art form, led by a GSA faculty member or guest artist. Students will also learn about the GSA summer program, audition and application procedures, as well as other arts opportunities in their area. The event is free to all participants.

The event will be open to all freshmen, sophomores and juniors, and will be led by GSA faculty members and guest artists.

Sacred Heart School for the Arts, Louisville

All ArtShops occur between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

In the fall of 1997, the Governor's School for the Arts began a statewide outreach initiative with the funds from the General Assembly of The Commonwealth. This outreach took the form of ArtShops. During these one-day workshops, held at locations around the state each fall, students choose an art form to specialize in from GSA's core offerings of architecture, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theatre, new media, visual art and vocal music. Students are also encouraged to apply to the summer program, occurring June 17 - July 7, 2012.
