Please consider the Group Rep’s world premiere of The Cape and the Klan a play by Tin Penavic and Ted Ryan, directed by Stan Mazin, produced by Kyra Schwartz and Ted Ryan, a dramedy based on a true story about a lone reporter who goes undercover to infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan in 1951, as the Civil Rights Movement. February 17 – March 18, 2018. Upstairs at the Group Rep in the Lonny Chapman Theatre in North Hollywood, at the edge of the NoHo Arts District.

It is 1951, and as the Civil Rights movement for desegregation is underway, a lone reporter goes undercover to infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. What he realizes — changing the hearts and minds of others — will take the help of a powerful, famous individual. Thus, he brings his story to New York City and to the producers of the radio show “The Adventures of Superman.” Ultimately, the Man of Steel brings the fight against racism and bigotry to millions of listeners in a multi-episode arc. This proved to be the worst kind of exposure the Klan could ever want.

About Show Times and Tickets: February 17 – March 18, 2018. Saturday matinees at 2:00 pm and Sunday evenings at 7:00 pm through March 11. Talk-back after the February 24 - Saturday Matinee. Additional shows added Friday - March 16 and Saturday - March 17 at 8:00 pm, and Sunday Evening – March 18 at 7:00 pm. Running time: 1 hour 40 minutes (including one intermission).
