The play that shocked the world in 1879 with its themes of change, independence, and the struggle to become a full human being in a world of conventional thinking and smug self-satisfaction. With A Doll House, Ibsen set the theatre in a new direction and created modern drama. Long considered a “feminist” play, this play is actually about allowing all people to have the freedom to realize their full potential and understand, as Nora does, that to mature one must leave the comfortable illusions and lies of our childhood doll houses and face reality.
