UNDER THE JELLO MOLD Wins Best Solo Performance & Encore Producers' Award at 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival Image

UNDER THE JELLO MOLD won the Best Solo Performance Award from the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival and an Encore Producers' Award from the Complex Theatres. The show received five nominations including Top of the Fringe, Rogue Machines - "Premiere" Award, Sho Works; Don't Wait Create Award, The Larry Cornwall Award and Best Solo Performance. UNDER THE JELLO MOLD was the only solo show nominated for this years' Top of the Fringe!

UNDER THE JELLO MOLD was one of five shows to be nominated for Best Solo Performance. The nominees for this award are the top five solo shows out of this year's eighty-eight solo shows as voted by a community of Hollywood Fringe Festival patrons and participants.

The Encore! Producers' Awards are given to shows that represent artistic merit and have achieved commercial success. A committee made up of representatives from each participating venue votes to determine the recipients. This year marked the largest Hollywood Fringe Festival yet with 375 participating shows.

Earlier in the festival, UNDER THE JELLO MOLD won The Pick of the Fringe Award from Combined Artform & Fringe Management who sends out judges that report back on five selected shows that then perform in a special ten minute showcase at Asylum Theatre's Underground venue.

UNDER THE JELLO MOLD is Jennie's Fahn's one-woman show about how she dealt with her very colorful character of a mother during what turned out to be the final act of her life. Jennie's mother was a force to be reckoned with: a former dancer, never content to merely rehash her past, there was always a story to be embellished, always a name to drop, and always a lesson to teach. From the inevitability of aging, to criminal acts, to life-changing decisions, Jennie survived the onslaught by finding comedy in every possible tragedy. If anyone could make something ridiculous out of the banal, it was certainly her mom; particularly when it came to where she hid the instructions for what to do in case of her death. Told in anecdotes, characters, and even a little song, the show is full of laughs and a lot of heart. In addition, in an unexpected twist, Jennie learns that her mom had more than just burial instructions hidden Under the Jello Mold...
