Troubadour Theater Company Presents JULIUS WEEZER At The Historic El Portal Theatre Image

Beware the Ides of March in May! At the El Portal Theatre this May the Troubies return to their roots and take a stab at Shakespeare's perilous historical tragedy Julius Caesar to the music of cult L.A. rock band Weezer. It could get bloody in NoHo as the Ovation Award winning, Los Angeles-based Troubadour Theater Company presents Julius Weezer, a musical parody directed and adapted by the company's Master of Mayhem and Artistic Director Matt Walker.

Have you ever wondered what really happened to Julius Caesar on the Ides of March? The Troubies have...and are warning you to "Beware the Ides of March in May!" The terrible tidings and twisted tale of corruption, betrayal, and the quest for absolute power -no, not Washington DC -- Rome circa 44 B.C.

Shakespeare's story of Caesar, with the funk-rock riffs of the resurgent and ubiquitous band, Weezer. This 90 minute hard-driving, heart pounding, adrenaline rush of a show will feature the Troubies in all their classical glory - speaking the speech and strumming the power chords. The production will take advantage of the El Portal's wonderfully theatricalized confines to create a bloody, bold and resolute retelling of one of Shakespeare's great tragedies. Age appropriate for eight and up, the show will feature special make-up effects that may disturb some younger guests - after all, Caesar was stabbed 33 times...

Part circus, part improv comedy show, part rock concert - with a live band that complements and compels the Troubie cast as they wind their way through the dark and dangerous world of Julius Weezer. Enjoy the madness with the Troubies and be able to say: "I came, I saw, I conquered...and I rocked out!"

Performances of Julius Weezer run May 4-19, 2019 at the El Portal Theatre located at 5269 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601. Performances are Thurs.- Fri. at 8pm, Sat. at 4pm & 8pm and Sun at 4pm. Tickets currently on sale and priced from $50-$65. Tickets available online at www.elportaltheatre.com or by calling the box office at (818) 508-4200 or (866) 811-4111.

Troubadour Theater Company is a free-wheeling, no holds barred, Commedia Del Arte flavored, slapstick driven Los Angeles based ensemble of actors, musicians, and comedians that has been performing for audiences throughout Southern California and beyond since 1995. Their fast-paced, laugh-filled, loose adaptations (some of the lines are still there) of classic plays, literature and film, as well as their original productions and hilarious sketch material, make this company a unique and exciting experience for theater-goers of any age.
