Tony Tanner Directs At The Missing Piece Theatre

Tony Tanner is indeed a triple threat: an actor/writer/director. He oftentimes produces his own work. He has received good reviews and accolades for his work in both Europe and in the United States.
Tanner is most proud of having been nominated for Tony awards for the direction of two quite different shows in the same season: JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT and A TASTE OF HONEY, best musical and best revival respectively. He was also nominated for his choreography for JOSEPH.As an actor, Mr. Tanner played a psychopath in THE LAST ALLY onstage, in London. Kenneth Tynan, the renown theatre critic, said, [his was] 'one of the finest, most unsentimental portraits of a nut case, I have ever seen in the theatre.' Mr. Tanner also starred in Warner Bros. STOP THE WORLD I WANT TO GET OFF.and takes place in Spain, Italy, and France. The predator, Don Juan, at first a handsome young man of twenty-five, chooses his victims from all classes and all age groups. His acts of cruel seduction, physical abuse and rape eventually confine him in a Spanish prison. He is released after suffering his own dark night of the soul, but whether or not this experience has changed him, and changed him for the good, is only revealed at play's end as he is visited in almost a dream state by all those whom he preyed upon. Lit by sardonic humor and erotically charged, the play twists and turns in ways that are unpredictable at first, but in the end seem almost inevitable.
