Theatre Unleashed Brings New Edition of PASSAGES

By: Jul. 22, 2016

Coming off the recent success of The Devil's Bride and the acclaimed A Feast of Snacks at Hollywood Fringe, Theatre Unleashed is excited to bring back its original series Passages, running August 5-20 at The Belfry Stage in North Hollywood.

And this year, patrons will see some familiar characters in an entirely new light.

"Coming off the coattails of our Main Stage show The Devil's Bride, which was a sequel to Much Ado About Nothing, we wanted to round out our season with a complimentary theme for Passages," said Ann Hurd, the show's creator and the company's director of Second Stage. "With Classics Remixed, we have taken characters from classic plays and literature and put them together in a new time and place."

Passages is a one-act play festival of original works written and directed by Theatre Unleashed members that feature independent actors and theatre artists in the roles. It's just one example of how Theatre Unleashed works toward its pledge of supporting and growing the L.A. theatre community as a whole.

It's also proved to be a valuable tool in bringing more talent to the TU company as a whole.

"Passages is the perfect way to not only find, but then vet new company members," said Jenn Scuderi Crafts, the company's artistic director. "At Theatre Unleashed, we strive to attract company members who are not only talented, but also are looking for an artistic home where they can be part of many aspects of the collaborative process. Some of our most active members were invited into the company after they worked with us in Passages and we're excited about the talent we have in this show."
