After The Vagrancy's daring production of Maria Irene Fornes' WHAT OF THE NIGHT? that earned the company three OVATION AWARD nominations, the Los Angeles based theatre company proudly prepares to take on Shakespeare's deliciously murderous MACBETH, cut, conceived, and directed by Artistic Director Caitlin Hart this coming October. Macbeth will be followed by the World Premiere of HORSE, written by The Vagrancy's very own Literary Manager and Vagrant Writer, Cort Brinkerhoff, that will launch off at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Throughout the season, The Vagrancy continues their commitment to new play development and the in-house Writer's Group with BLOSSOMING.

Artistic Director Caitlin Hart, who's productions are consistently acclaimed by critics and peers (Hollywood Fringe WINNER- Best Ensemble Theatre and Top of Fringe Nominee, WHITE HOT; Ovation Award Nominee for Best Acting Ensemble, What of The Night?) is tackling the bloody tale of power consumed MACBETH and his ambitious wife with her gloves off. Embracing the gore, the fear, and the brutality of Shakespeare's celebrated text, this haunting production will not be for the faint of heart.

Brinkerhoff's HORSE tells the story of Adam. Adam is a soldier recently home from his forth tour of duty in Iraq. Weary from loneliness his wife, Kat, befriends an entrepreneurial prostitute who gets her hooked on heroin. Adam goes out drinking with his buddy and fellow soldier Jake, who had three kills in Iraq. Adam expressed regret for having zero kills. Jake persuades Adam to kill a horse as a human surrogate in order to know what killing feels like. As Adam and Kat attempt to mend their marriage, they find themselves being drawn together in ways they never intended.

The Vagrancy Writer's Group includes Los Angeles's most promising emerging playwrights: Cort Brinkerhoff (THE NIGHTMARE ROOM, NEUROSIS- published in Canyon Voices Literary Magazine), Abbey Fenbert (2013 Mark Twain Prize for Comic Playwriting), Howard Ho (Short works produced as part of Company of Angels' LA Views and NMI's 15 Minute Musicals), and Mildred Lewis (Daily Habits Mask Pain- won the Cambridge International Theatre Challenge (Sky Blue Theatre) and the Annual L.I.C. One Act Festival).

Their 4 new plays developed with The Vagrancy will receive full staged readings with captivating audience talkbacks on July 23rd & 24th in BLOSSOMING, a new play reading series.

In other news, Vagrancy Managing Director, Becky Pierce is stepping down after two dedicated years with the company to develop her own business. She is being replaced with the extraordinary Rani O'Brien. Rani is a director, producer, writer and teacher. She has studied directing at La MaMa Umbria's International Symposium for Directors, Second City, and earned her BFA at The Theatre Conservatory at The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. She is currently directing a world premier for the Second City about the 2016 Primary Presidential Candidates called Candidate Confessions : a 2016 Cabaret. Selected directing credits include: Girl on Gurl: an unusually queer sketch revue, The Lollygaggers, The PurrSuit of Happiness, The Big Funk and Les Miserables. raniobrien.com
