The Music Center celebrates Gustavo Dudamel, Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic
The Music Center celebrates the arrival of Gustavo Dudamel, incoming Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with a live simulcast on the Music Center Plaza of his Inaugural Concert, the opening of the 2009-2010 LA Phil Season. This simulcast takes place Thursday, October 8, at 7:00 pm. Admission for this event is free, and reservation requests will be taken through the Music Center website – musiccenter.org. Reservation confirmations will be distributed through an e-mail public lottery.
The musical spirit of this event will transform the Music Center Plaza into an open-air park setting for pillows, blankets, and music lovers as the Inaugural Concert is simulcast on multiple large plasma screens throughout the plaza. The concert features the world premiere of City Noir by John Adams, commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic specifically for the evening, and concludes with Mahler’s First Symphony.President of the Music Center Stephen D. Rountree, said, "Gustavo Dudamel's inaugural concert as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic is one of the great events in the history of the Music Center. Rarely have we seen an arts figure as universally embraced as Gustavo and we are thrilled to work in partnership with the LA Phil to extend this wonderful celebration beyond the Walt Disney Concert Hall to an even larger community."
