THE REAL LADY MACBETH to Make World Premiere at Actors Company Let Live Theatre

The Real Lady Macbeth will make World Premiere at Hollywood Fringe Festival. The show is written and produced by Coco Blignaut and Edison Park, directed by Sofia Streisand, and presented by Rosarium Films. Performances run June 4-28 at Actors Company Let Live Theatre, 916 N. Formosa Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046.

In Shakespeare's "Scottish play," Lady Macbeth suffers a misogynistic depiction as a murderous, greedy, overambitious villain.

The Real Lady Macbeth asserts that the true, historical Lady Macbeth is more complex and far more interesting. Born of royal blood, she is powerful Druid queen with skills of prophecy and divination based on ancient Celtic pagan traditions (It's the 11h Century; Christianity hasn't yet completely replaced the old ways). Lady Macbeth's motivations are direct: to protect her husband, her child, and her ancestral lands, Fife and Moray, from those who would do them harm. Her story will end far differently than in Shakespeare's fiction.

Coco Blignaut and Edison Park are the playwrights. Both are lifetime members of The Actors Studio. Blignaut studied at the Sorbonne, and Park trained at UCLA. Park's previous play is Saga Munchie. Blignaut's previous play is God's Gypsy.

Sofia Streisand directs. Born in Russia, she has directed operas and musicals across Europe and Asia, including The Master and Margarita and The Queen of Spades.

In addition to Blignaut and Park, the cast includes Eve Sigall and Savannah Schakett.

The Real Lady Macbeth lifts the curse from the name of this fascinating historical figure.
