THE BIRTHING PIT Receives L.A. World Premiere
THE BIRTHING PIT is written and directed by William J. Meyer, starring Jensen Chambers as Dr. John Charles Martin, and Maia Kazin as Castella Charlotte Martin. The play is premiering at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
Fleeing a mysterious pestilence, a Rhode Island couple journeys home from the Caribbean. But when tragedy strikes at sea, possibly from supernatural causes, can their love endure beyond the grave?
This two-hander is a Gothic Romance at the end of the American Revolutionary War exploring sexual anxiety and religious terror. When a husband and wife encounter forces beyond their understanding aboard a ship commanded by a diabolical captain, they quickly discover themselves consumed by gold, murder, and passion. Husband and wife must come to terms with their disintegrating marriage, even as their private, intimate Apocalypse swiftly approaches.William is a writer and director originally from Wisconsin now living in Los Angeles, CA. He is the writer and producer of the fantasy-adventure podcast novel FIRE ON THE MOUND, winner of the 2014 Parsec Awards Best Speculative Fiction Story (Long Form). He is also the writer, director, and editor of the fantasy-romance short film THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT, distributed by Ouat Media.
THE BIRTHING PIT is William's first play.
