THANKSGIVING IS A TRADITION OF SIN! Set for Hollywood Fringe

By:

TITS! Thanksgiving Is A Tradition of Sin! promises to be one of the most irreverent, and smartest, comedies presented at the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Opening on June 4th at The Complex, the 10-actor comedic tour-de-force promises 90 minutes of non-stop one-liners, music, laughter, and all spoken and sung in the rhyming couplets style of Molière.

The preposterous plot revolves around a priest and a nun in a tough spot - Father Gunderson has decided he is lonely, and has taken a French Canadian whore as a bride. His confidant, Sister Salacious, suggests she can make the congregation accept his indiscretion if he can only find a scapegoat. The two decide that their easiest target is a local family full of sinners, to whom they will pay a visit at Thanksgiving. The Jones's, however, prove to be formidable foes. Eva Jones, the matriarch of the family, has a full house at Thanksgiving - a son who has recently begun dating a born-again Christian zealot, another illegitimate son raised as a Muslim, and a recently out lesbian daughter and her conniving girlfriend. The family, not to be taken advantage of, launches a counter plot against the priest and nun, and there you have it - Thanksgiving is a tradition of sin.

Mark Anthony Smith has been called the white-trash Molière. Says Smith about TITS! "My goal was to reach the limits that Molière did back in his time. He challenged religious beliefs, he pointed out hypocrisy, he made his characters explore their sexual desires, and he managed to offend his audience but also make them laugh their asses off! My goal in writing TITSwas the same. Using the creative style of rhyming couplets is probably the most challenging yet satisfying use of language. It allows the audience to tolerate the raunchy and edgy content that exists throughout this play, giving it a certain unique flavor."

TITS! may be raunchy, edgy and funny, but nothing about it is simple. The message is complex and smart. And no one is safe from critique in TITS! A drink beforehand is highly suggested, and a thick skin.

The extraordinary ensemble cast includes Joanna Hernandez, Richard Hefner, Summer Stratton, Taylor Stone, Vanessa Toyama, Lindsey Whitener, Anthony Garcia, Samantha Mallory, Ann-Marie Lariccia and Laurén Gehringer.

TITS! opens at the Hollywood Fringe Festival on Saturday, June 4 at 9:30 PM at Theater 6470 @ the Complex, 6470 Santa Monica Blvd. in Los Angeles. Subsequent performance will be Friday June 10, 11:00 PM, Sunday June 12, 2:30 PM, Sunday June 19, 9:30 PM, closing on Thursday June 23 at 7:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at www.hollywoodfringe.org.
