TALES OF AN UNSETTLED CITY: REDEMPTION Brings Back TU's Late Night Series, Now thru 4/19

By:

Theatre Unleashed has announced the return of its most successful Late Night Series show with ALL NEW scripts and actors. Tales of an Unsettled City: Redemption will run Fridays and Saturday nights at 10:30 from today, March 28-April 19 at The Belfry Stage in North Hollywood.

Tales of an Unsettled City: Redemption is a series of short comedic and dramatic vignettes interwoven to explore the many definitions of the term "redemption" and how we deal with the concept. Through clever, original scenes, the production shows how redemption relates to not only who we are as individuals, but also where we've been and where we're going.

"The beginning of the year is a time when we look back at our past events and hope to make a change for the better, or redeem ourselves from certain choices," said Artistic Director Carlos Martinez, who also created the series and is directing. "We are always looking to improve ourselves, to find that happy medium, whether it be with our professional lives, our love life or just personal gain...and this show examines what we're doing."

Redemption is the latest chapter in a series that featured such themes as Beginnings, Encounters, Revelations and Exodus. Theatre Unleashed last performed its Tales series in 2009.

"This was our first regular foray into Late Night theatre and we are thrilled to bring it back," said Managing Director Gregory Crafts. "Carlos has created an exciting and engaging shared universe that these stories coexist in; a living, breathing cityscape that's just as diverse and storied as our own. I am eager to see what this new installment holds."

Tales of an Unsettled City: Redemption will run Fridays and Saturdays after the Theatre Unleashed Main Stage show Tartuffe. It is part of a season that will include the West Coast debut of the new play by Justin Moran (The Spidey Project) called POPE! An Epic Musicaland the return of the holiday tradition KAWL Presents It's a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play for the Stage. TU will also once again be a strong presence at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, bringing back the cult classic 25 Plays Per Hour and the critically acclaimed Friends Like These. The company will also produce its signature 24-Hour Theatre Events and other Late Night Series shows.

The show will run March 28-April 19, playing Fridays, Saturdays, 10:30 p.m. *All shows will begin after performances of the Theatre Unleashed Main Stage show Tartuffe. All shows will run at The Belfry Stage, Upstairs at the Crown, 11031 Camarillo St., North Hollywood, CA 91602. General Admission: $10.
