Richard Pryor Jr. Comes to The Grove, 2/1-2/2
Richard Pryor Jr., son of the late, comic genius Richard Pryor, comes to The Grove on
February 1st and 2nd. Mr. Pryor is a talented singer and actor who re-launched his career in 2006 in New York City as a tribute to his late father. As a small child Richard Jr. introduced his dad's shows and hasn't stopped performing since.
Richard Pryor Jr. returned to show business after his father's passing in 2005 and hasn't looked back since. Mr. Pryor has recorded with various gospel groups in the Midwest such as the Sounds of Deliverance and Voices of Refuge. He recently finished several film projects which include a web-series titled "Three Square," a self-produced and highly anticipated one man show titled "Stirred Crazy", and an independent film entitled "College Debts" formerly "My Guaranteed Student Loan" in which he co-stars alongside academy award winner the late Academy Award Winner, Celeste Holm.
Mr. Pryor portrayed his father in the film "American Gangster". "I was so thrilled and honored to play my dad that I immediately decided to continue his legacy. I want to entertain people just like dad. My dad would bring me along sometimes and have me introduce him to the audience during his standup routines." Pryor recently completed several TV pilots "Lizards" and "Pryor Knowledge" starring as himself and directed by Dante Liberatore for BonaFide Films.
In addition to his comedic ability to move and entertain an audience, Pryor's voice has taken him to world famous stages including: The International Cringe Festival, The Metropolitan Room, Birdland New York, and The Jazz Celebration Series in New York City, Chicago, Indiana and Michigan. Pryor will soon release a documentary film entitled "Coming In My Own," and a book about his life as the son of the late legendary comedic icon Richard Pryor.
Performances are Friday, February 1st and Saturday, February 2nd at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $30 and $25 for adults, with senior and group discounts.
