Prae Se Ferre/The Producing School, a newly established resource designed to teach the "ins and outs" of producing live theater in Los Angeles, offers its first workshop, "LA Theater Producing Intensive," on July 6 from 10 am - 4:30 pm at the MET Theatre in Hollywood.

Sponsored by LA Stage Alliance, Footlights Publishing, Inc. and Plays411, the all-day LA Theater Producing Intensive will utilize the expertise of top Los Angeles theater professionals to cover topics including budgeting, press and publicity, advertising and marketing, Actors' Equity, fundraising, physical production, creative development, production management, company management, social media, ticketing, staffing and casting.

Prae Se Ferre/The Producing School was created by Venture Hill Entertainment in association with DOMA Theatre Company as an educational platform to guide new and seasoned producers through the many facets of building shows. ("Prae Se Ferre" is Latin for "to show.")

"We see this as a way to give back to the local theater community," says Venture Hill and DOMA executive producer Marco Gomez, who co-founded Prae Se Ferre with Venture Hill vice president of development Schoen Smith.

"After producing for years in Los Angeles, I felt there should be a centralized place where new producers could go to learn the nuts and bolts of producing theater in L.A. and share resources at the same time," adds Smith.

The LA Theater Producing Intensive is coordinated and produced by DOMA Theatre Company's director of marketing Michael Abramson along with Smith. Speakers will include Danielle DeMasters, resident production manager at DOMA Theatre Company; Peter Finlayson, CEO of Footlights Publishing, Inc.; Leigh Fortier of Plays411; Terence McFarland, CEO of LA Stage Alliance; Lucy Pollak of Lucy Pollak Public Relations; and Heather Provost, Tony-nominated producer.

Venture Hill Entertainment, LLC is a private investment company created to enhance and develop theater, film and music properties. Venture Hill has funded projects in all stages of development, with the goal of partnering with professional visionaries who inspire and re-imagine the theatrical experience. Credits include Evitastarring Ricky Martin on Broadway, and Driving Miss Daisy starring James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave on London's West End.

A joint venture between DOlf Ramos and MArco Gomez, DOMA has carved a name for itself by presenting large-scale, Broadway-style musicals in a small intimate setting at Hollywood's MET Theatre. DOMA's most recent production, Dreamgirls, was "Ovation Recommended" and garnered rave reviews including a Los Angeles Times "Critic's Choice." The company's five-play, all musical 2012 season received critical acclaim for productions of The Who's Tommy ("Exhilarating!" - Rock Cellar Magazine), Songs for A New World ("Transformational!" - LA Splash), Jekyll & Hyde:The Musical ("Pick of the Week" - LA Weekly), Xanadu ("Another standout production" - Working Author) and Avenue Q ("Critic's Choice" - Los Angeles Times, "Ovation Recommended").

LA Theater Producing Intensive takes place on Saturday July 6 from 10 am - 4:30 pm. The cost for the workshop is $100, which includes lunch and a sneak peek at DOMA Theatre Company's upcoming production of the Tony Award-winning musical NINE. To reserve a spot visit www.theproducingschool.com.
