Photo Flash: First Look at SoCal Premiere of THE DRAGON PLAY at Chance Theater

By:

Chance Theater is excited to present the Southern California Premiere of a bold look at the strength and true nature of enduring love told through an eye of fantasy... The Dragon Play. Written by Jenny Connell Davis and directed by Marya Mazor. The Dragon Play is currently in previews, with regular performances set to begin tomorrow, July 30, and continue through August 23 on the 2nd Stage at Chance Theater at Bette Aitken Theater Arts Center. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage below!

On a lonely farm in northern Minnesota, a husband and wife's peaceful existence is shattered by the appearance of an unexpected visitor. On a hot stretch of highway in central Texas, a boy befriends a wounded dragon. Spanning two moments in time and space, and blurring the lines between each, The Dragon Play explores what happens when reality and fantasy converge, when desire and duty conflict, and when our deepest secrets show up breathing fire. The result is a smoldering, brutally poetic pair of stories between humans and dragons that scales the soaring highs and scorching lows of enduring love.

The production team for The Dragon Play includes scenic and costume designer Sara Ryung Clement, lighting designer Pablo Santiago, sound designer John Zalewski, props designer Masako Tobaru, and stage manager Nicole Schlitt.

The cast for The Dragon Play includes returning artists Elena Murray (Time Stands Still) and Gasper Gray (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). They are joined by three actors making their Chance debut - Keiko Elizabeth, John J. Pistone and J.B. Waterman.

Performances play the Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken Theater Arts Center, 5522 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim, CA 92807. Tickets: $20-$35. Call (714) 777-3033 or visit www.ChanceTheater.com.
