Ophelia's Jump Theatre Presents AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY in Upland, 10/12-21

Ophelia's Jump Theatre Company has announced its inaugural production with the Inland Empire premiere of Tracy Letts' celebrated play August: Osage County. Directed by co-founder Beatrice Casagran, August: Osage County plays Oct. 12 – 21, 2012 at The Grove Theatre, 276 E 9th in Upland.

At the Oklahoma farmhouse of the Westons, the patriarch, Beverly, goes missing. The family gathers together hoping for good news, but, find themselves coming to grips with old closeted skeletons and festering wounds that resurface at this homecoming. Populated with tour de force characters such as Violet, the prescription drug-addicted, chain-smoking, Eric Clapton loving family matriarch, this black comedy charges forward with the mesmerizing effect of watching a deliciously choreographed train wreck of epic proportions.

Winner of the Best New Play awarded by Drama Desk, Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2008.

The production team for August: Osage County includes: Richard Clark (sets), Jeanette Capuano (costumes), Tammy Devine (lights) and Ryan Lindauer (sound). Natalie Casagran Lopez is the Assistant Director andStage Manager and Caitlin Lopez is the Assistant Director.

Featuring: (in alphabetical order) David Billman, Mike Buczynski, Beatrice Casagran, Angala Devine, Kadn Fox, Nicki Heskin, Vivi Hopson, Kelly Kelly, Katherine Lee, Jeff Richards, Mark Sanfilippo, Robin Steege and Cedric Blake Wright.

The Grove Theatre is located at 276 E 9th St., Upland (Historic Downtown Upland). The show opens Friday, October 12, with the regular run playing through October 21, 0212, Friday and saturday at 7:29 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Ticket prices: $20 Online ticketing available at grovetheatre.com. Conceived of and founded by veteran actor, director, and teacher, Beatrice Casagran, and actor/improv comedienne, Caitlin Lopez, Ophelia's Jump is a New Theatre Company in the Inland Empire that focuses on producing highly regarded, award winning works that leave audiences asking questions and discussing big ideas- theatre that invites you to leap into the drama. Our mission is to produce both creative new interpretations of classical and award winning works, and also new works by talented local and regional artists. Ophelia's Jump's educational mission includes developing workshops for educators in incorporating performing arts and drama into the curriculum to increase student engagement and learning and partnering with The Grove Theatre to open a conservatory that will offer high quality instruction for youth in all aspects of theatrical performance and production.
