Nimoy, Ellenstein & Culture Clash to Receive Honors at Company of Angels Gala, 10/17

Company of Angels, Los Angeles' oldest non-profit professional theatre company, will bestow honors upon veteran actors Leonard Nimoy and Robert Ellenstein, and performance duo Culture Clash, during its 50th anniversary Charity Gala and Award Ceremony. The soiree will be held at The Alexandria Hotel on Saturday, October 17.

Leonard Nimoy is best known for playing the character of Spock on the original Star Trek series. Nimoy's stage credits include Vincent, Fiddler on the Roof, The Man in the Glass Booth, Oliver!, Six Rms Riv Vu, Full Circle, Camelot, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The King And I, Caligula, The Four Poster, Twelfth Night, Sherlock Holmes, Equus and My Fair Lady. He is also an accomplished author, poet and musician.

Robert Ellenstein is a TV and stage actor. He has appeared as guest star in many television series including Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, Wanted: Dead or Alive, The Rifleman, The Untouchables, Get Smart, Bonanza, Murder, She Wrote, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and E.R.

Founded on May 5th, 1984 (Cinco de Mayo) in San Francisco's Mission District, Culture Clash is Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza. They have become the most prominent Chicano/Latino performance troupe in the country with work ranging from sketch comedy to an adaptation of Aristophanes, to the full length play Chavez Ravine, to co-writing Frank Loesser's long lost musicalSeñor Discretion Himself based on a story by the legendary Bud Schulberg. Culture Clash's theatrical work includes The Mission, A Bowl of Beings, S.O.S.-Comedy for These Urgent Times, Unplugged, Capra Clash, Radio Mambo: Culture Clash Invades Miami, Bordertown, The Birds, Nuyorican Stories, Anthology, Mission Magic Mystery Tour, Anthems: Culture Clash in the District, Chavez Ravine, Senor Discretion Himself, Culture Clash in AmeriCCa, Zorro in Hell and Water and Power.

Guests expected to attend the gala include George Takei, Marlene Forte, Judy Reyes, David Zayas, C.S. Lee, Ilan Hall, Scott Krinsky, Vic Sahay, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Cedric Pendleton, Rami Kashou, Billie Myers, Ray Wise, Maria Conchita Alonso, Anthony Crivello, Carmen de la Paz, Nancy & Lew Palter, Mary Gregory, Sofia Milos, Jack Stehlin, Richard Lawson, Dr.Frank Ryan, and Phoebe Price.

The evening begins at 7pm with a VIP reception and silent auction. The awards presentation will follow at 8pm, and the evening will be capped off with music by a special DJ guest starting at 9pm. Tickets are $50, with proceeds going to charity.
