Moonlight's WordsWork Play-Reading Series Returns For 4th Year 4/27

By:

The Moonlight Cultural Foundation's free play-reading series, WordsWork, now in its fourth year, announces its upcoming series of Monday evening events. "We are delighted to underwrite collaborations with some of the region's most notable and talented theatre companies and individuals. The opportunity to bring free readings of award-winning plays by professional actors to Moonlight's Avo Playhouse, is just one of our many efforts to enrich our North County region," says Diana Aaron, Moonlight Cultural Foundation's Executive Director.

The Monday evening free play reading series includes, to date:
Apr. 27 Eleemosynary. Lee Blessing's award winning poignant and funny play about three gener-ations of women. Produced in affiliation with Moxie Theatre and directed by Delicia Turner Sonnenberg, the cast includes: Rhona Gold, Rachel VanWormer and Wendy Waddell.

May 25 Celebrity Sonnets. San Diego Shakespeare Society assembles region notables to read Sonnets that are revered, remembered and even those forgotten.

Jun. 22 Right Here, Right Now. Readings of original works written by regional authors in affiliation with Write Out Loud.

Sept. 14 Seascape. Directed by Moonlight Stage Production's Artistic Director, Kathy Brombacher, this comedy, fantasy, satire surrounding couples' relationships features: Sandra Ellis-Troy, Joshua Everett Johnson, Amanda Morrow and Charlie Riendeau.

Nov. 16 An Evening with Jonathan McMurtry's Shakespeare. Nationally recognized Shakespeare actor and scholar, Vista resident, San Diego Critics Circle Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Old Globe Resident Artist, Mr. McMurtry will guide you through an unforgettable evening of the Bard's most memorable monologues.

"The text of these wonderful pieces fills the stage with imaginary sets, costumes and props which evoke the audience's imagination. Patrons tell me repeatedly how magical these play reading evenings are. I think they are surprised at how fulfilling just the words are. And then, after each reading, when the audience members get to discuss the piece with the director and cast, it completes
their experience. The exchange of thoughts and ideas just makes the evening a wonderful tribute to the importance of theatre and its reflection of our human experience," adds Sandra Ellis-Troy, WordsWork Project Director.

Moonlight Cultural Foundation's Fourth Annual FREE WordsWork Play Reading Series. Doors open at 7:00 pm - Performances at 7:30 pm
