DON JUAN DISPENSO, written and directed by Tony Tanner, produced by Bare Bones Theatre, will have its World Premiere Sunday, February 28, 3:00 pm. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm, and Sunday at 3:00 pm from February 28 through April 4 at The Missing Piece Theatre in Burbank.

Writer/Director Tony Tanner was Tony-nominated for Direction and Choreography for JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLORED DREAMCOAT, and in the same season A TASTE OF HONEY, which he directed, was Tony-nominated for best revival.

Tanner's new play, DON JUAN DISPENSO is a re-telling of an old legend. It is set in the 20's and 30's of the last century, and takes place in Spain, Italy, and France. The predator, Don Juan, at first a handsome young man of twenty-five, chooses his victims from all classes and all age groups. His acts of cruel seduction, physical abuse and rape eventually confine him in a Spanish prison. He is released after suffering his own dark night of the soul, but whether or not this experience has changed him, and changed him for the good, is only revealed at play's end as he is visited in almost a dream state by all those whom he preyed upon. Lit by sardonic humor and erotically charged, the play twists and turns in ways that are unpredictable at first, but in the end seem almost inevitable.

Writer/Director Tony Tanner was Tony-nominated for Direction and Choreography for JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLORED DREAMCOAT, and in the same season A TASTE OF HONEY, which he directed, was Tony-nominated for best revival.
