Melissa Vardey Brings 'A FUNNY THING HAPPENED...FORECLOSURE' to Room 5 Lounge, 11/17

By:

Internationally celebrated pianist/singer, award-winning songwriter/composer Melissa Vardey serves up an original one-woman show in which she inhabits the wonderful world of being underwater in "A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO FORECLOSURE" on Saturday, November 17 at 7:30pm at the Room 5 Lounge, 143 N. La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, Calif. Tickets are $10 at the door with advance reservations recommended by calling (323) 938-2504. Purchase tickets online at www.allinonemusic.com/tickets.

British-born Vardey has established a firm foundation as a global "all-in-one" entertainer, a raconteur and humorist, jazz musician, producer and engaging performer before presidents and international royalty. But in 2010 she found herself in a different kind of command performance when, in the midst of writing her new live musical show, this UK-expatriate simultaneously faced the realities and chaos of an impending foreclosure on her home in Los Angeles

"A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO FORECLOSURE" shares her trials and tribulations from riding high with her celebrity friends to wading through the financial complexities of the current housing crisis. The only thing she can bank on is her talent, wit, persistence, patience, skills at the piano and ukelele, and an unjustifiable sense of optimism as she follows the new American Dream: "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of… a Loan Modification."

This upbeat, light-hearted one-act musical comedy is ultimately a triumphant journey as Vardey challenges herself and The Bank to review her circumstances, uniquely documenting this life-changing experience through original compositions in jazz, blues, Broadway and classical stylings, laughing in the face of adversity and all the corporate absurdity, using pathos and honesty to prevent the drama of uncertainty from bringing the curtain down on her.

Her journey is presented in a league with the great monologuists - one part Dudley Moore with a splash of Joan Rivers and a Victor Borge chaser.
