Marquee Productions, a division of CMT San Jose-the longest thriving arts organization in Silicon Valley-made its debut in 2005 with a goal to reengage CMT alumni performers, who donate their performance time as a benefit to the organization. Now in its 48th year, CMT (Children's Musical Theatre San Jose) is the oldest performing arts organization in San Jose. Through musical theater, CMT educates and trains today's youth to become the artists, patrons, and citizens of tomorrow.
The Marquee Production of Disney's The Little Mermaid is directed by CMT Artistic Director Kevin Hauge. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, this musical includes popular songs from the Disney movie as well as numbers written for the stage version. Disney's The Little Mermaid is a beautiful love story for the ages unfolding in a magical kingdom, where the young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above, even as her colorful friends reveal their world under the sea.Casting has just been announced and features Bay Area favorite Samantha Rose Cardenas starring as Ariel and two local CMT veterans Nic Garcia and Skyler Andrews alternating in the role of Flounder. CMT is proud to be the first local Bay Area theater company granted the rights to this production.
