Margulies Sails 'Shipwrecked!' into South Coast Repertory
South Coast Repertory will present the world premiere of Shipwrecked! An Entertainment - The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told by Himself). Gregory Itzin portrays the title role in this adventure from Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies. Directed by Bart DeLorenzo, Shipwrecked! will run from September 23 through October 14 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Low-priced previews are available September 23 to 27. "A dog, a giant octopus, a pickpocket, a crusty old sea captain and a librarian are just a few of the characters in Margulies' creation, which is inspired by the true story of an unlikely hero who spellbound Victorian England, and the world, with his incredible tale. Louis de Rougemont narrates his story as he embarks on a 30-year adventure so inspiring of awe (according to Louis) it will make your pupils dilate and your pulse race," state press notes.
Gregory Itzin has appeared at SCR in the NewSCRipts reading of Lincolnesque, productions of Cyrano de Bergerac, Romeo and Juliet and Beyond Therapy and the Hispanic Playwrights Project reading of Bang Bang Blues, which he also performed at The Public Theater in New York. Rounding out the cast in numerous roles are Melody Butiu and Michael Daniel Cassady.

Performances begin on Sept. 23 and continue through Oct. 14. Ticket prices range from $20 to $62. Low-priced preview performances are available from Sept. 23-27.
Performance times: Previews: Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2:00 p.m., and Tuesday, Sept. 25, Wednesday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7:45 p.m. Regular Performances: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:45 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Discounts are available for full-time students, patrons 25 years of age and under, educators, seniors and groups of 15 or more. There will be a "Pay-What-You-Will" performance on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2:00 p.m. (Suggested Price: $10, $7 minimum) and an ASL-interpreted performance on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2:00 p.m.
The South Coast Repertory is located at 655 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa, at the Bristol Street/Avenue of the Arts exit off the San Diego.
