Little Fish Theatre today announced the opening of the fifth show of its 2013 season: EMBRACEABLE ME, by Victor L. Cahn. An estranged couple tells the story of their deep friendship and how it grew into the kind of love that is hard to leave behind.

Beginning as mutual appreciation between high-school misfits with a common interest in writing, the deep and abiding friendship between Edward and Allison blossoms into love. The two tell the story with sensitivity and humor, compassion and candor.

EMBRACEABLE ME will star Victor Holstein & Lydia Medeiros as the couple who faithfully recount their romance with rich texture and poignant sincerity. "This play strikes the perfect balance between comedy and drama," notes director Ryanne Laratonda. "Edward and Allison's story is a compelling dual character study, sprinkled with heartfelt humor and nuanced description." New to the area, Ryanne has directed a number of shows in Philadelphia, such as LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT for Simpatico Theatre Project and THE SHAPE OF THINGS for Plays and Players Theatre. Next up, she will be directing KITCHEN WITCHES for LITTLE FISH, set to open this August.

The play will run Wednesdays and Thursdays May 1, 2, 15, and 16 at 8pm. Weekend performances will be presented Friday May 10 and Saturday May 11 at 8pm. A Sunday matinee is scheduled for 2pm on May 5, after which the creative team will be available for 10 to 15 minutes for post-show discussion with the audience. Following a very successful production of SEE ROCK CITY, EMBRACEABLE ME is likely to be another audience favorite at LITTLE FISH.

Founded in 2002, Little Fish Theatre presents classic and contemporary plays in an intimate setting on Centre Street in downtown San Pedro. Producing eleven plays each year for a one-room 65-seat venue, Little Fish delivers the quintessential close-up theatrical experience, where audience and performers share space and sight-lines, making for eruptive laughter, highly-charged action and palpable emotion.
