Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre to Stage THE TRAGEDY OF ROMEO AND JULIET, 11/6-15

The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre presents Shakespeare's classic love story of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, the star crossed lovers who defy their families and marry in secret in THE TRAGEDY OF ROMEO AND JULIET, which comes to Laguna Playhouse Moulton Theatre November 6 - 15. Family feuds and miscommunication lead to street fighting, the death of trusted kinsman's, banishment and finally the suicide of both Romeo and Juliet.

The role of Juliet and Mercutio are double cast by two young women, McCallister Selva and Siena Yusi. Rounding out the cast is Ryan Han as Romeo, Shannon Michael Wamser a member of Actors Equity Association plays Tybalt and he has also staged the fight scenes. Charlie McClung and Alan Slabodkin, play the feuding Capulet and Montague, Claire Day is the Nurse and Benjamin Morrow is Friar Laurence. Robert Born plays Paris and Troy Huyen plays the Prince of Escalus and Nikolai Tereschenko is The Apothecary. Students Chloe Sullivan plays Lady Capulet, Isabelle Schoenhoefer plays Lady Montague, Joey Laderer plays Benvolio, Emmalisa Randrup plays Balthazar, Trevor Yusi plays Peter, Faith Ackley plays Friar John, Katie Palino is Sampson, Jayden Goodman plays Gregory, Quinton Yusi plays Abraham, and Isabella Sauders is the Page. Ensemble members include: Samia El-Erian as Tybalt's man, Vincenzo, Sophia Haslett, Holden Moll as the Watchman, Bridget Phillips, Ella Thimons and Abigail Williams.

Founded in 1920, The Laguna Playhouse is one of the oldest continuously-operating not-for-profit theatres on the West Coast and is noted for its artistic excellence, wide-ranging theatrical programming, award-winning youth education offerings and community partnerships. A member of the League of Resident Theatres, The Laguna Playhouse is a valued part of the Laguna Beach arts community that serves all of Southern California with year-round, professional, high-quality productions in theatre, music and dance.

Laguna Playhouse educational programming, which includes classes, productions by and for children and teens (Youth Theatre) and a school tour, has been honored by the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, Arts Orange County and the Orange County Department of Education.

Serving more than 100,000 patrons each season, The Laguna Playhouse has brought many talented performers to Southern California, including Davis Gaines, Stephanie Zimbalist, Rita Rudner, Sally Struthers, Cloris Leachman, Julie Harris, Harrison Ford, Charles Durning, Marlo Thomas, Roddy McDowell and Bette Davis, who have performed in world, national and regional premieres, as well as national tours of The Belle of Amherst and Copenhagen.
