La Miranda & McCoy Rigby Entertainment Present Tony Orlando in Concert, 5/15

By:

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment to present the Special Event of La Mirada Theatre's 2009-2010 season of shows, Tony Orlando in Concert "Let's Salute America." Performances will be at 2 PM and 8 PM on May 15th.

Tony Orlando's new show "Let's Salute America" is inspired by America's love of the Yellow Ribbon as a symbol of freedom, hope, homecomings and Tony's number one recording of 1973, "Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'Round The Ole Oak Tree." It was number one for that year, became Orlando's theme song and grew into an American anthem of hope, homecoming, reunion and renewal. The show includes "Yellow Ribbon," a tribute to George M. Cohan's "Yankee Doodle Dandy," a rendition of Toby Keith's "American (Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue)," Neil Diamond's "America" and Ray Charles' "America The Beautiful." Tony also performs his other big hits such as "Candida," "Knock Three Times" and "Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose."

Orlando, born and raised in New York City, began hitting the national charts at the age of 16 with "Halfway to Paradise" and "Bless You" as the first vocal artist to sign with Epic Records. He has been a recipient of three American Music Awards and a People's Choice Award. For outstanding achievements to the entertainment industry, Tony was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1990. Since 1993, Orlando has been a resident of Branson, Missouri, where he has performed more than 2,000 shows. His current performing home in Branson is The Osmond Family Theatre.  This winter Tony has a special production set to go for the Christmas season, entitled Santa & Me.

Tickets range from $45 - $70 and can be purchased at La Mirada Theatre's website, www.lamiradatheatre.com or by calling the La Mirada Theatre Box Office at (562) 944-9801 or
