LA Phil's TAKE A STAND Symposium Runs 1/30-2/1
The inaugural TAKE A STAND Symposium takes place in Los Angeles, January 30 – February 1, 2012, during the LA Phil's Mahler Project. The symposium will focus on driving forward the collective thinking of the El Sistema movement. Through inspiring speakers, interactive workshops, and global networking opportunities, attendees will gain compelling tools to turn inspiration into action.
Attendees will experience the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela working alongside YOLA children and will have access to leaders and teachers from El Sistema's Caracas headquarters.
PLEASE NOTE: all conference activities will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, unless noted otherwise. For full symposium schedule and details, please visit laphil.com/symposium.
The nearly 300 registrants scheduled to attend the symposium are visiting Los Angeles from both near and far - 11 different countries and 22 states will be represented.
Twenty-five teachers from around the country received scholarships through the YOLA Ambassadors Program, which offered a scholarship of up to $1000 for conference expenses. Participants come from 20 different U.S. El Sistema-inspired programs (nucleos) with 14 states represented. These teachers will have both active and supporting roles throughout the symposium.
