LA Philharmonic Performs 'Gloria,' 'Te Deum,' and 'Hallelujah,' 7/6

By:

The Los Angeles Philharmonic launches its 2010 summer classical concert season with a performance led by Grant Gershon, music director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC), Tuesday, July 6, at 8 p.m. The LAMC, where Gershon celebrates his 10th year as music director, is also on the program, along with three soloists: sopranos Jessica Rivera and Christine Brandes and mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor. The program features two settings of the 'Gloria' - by both Vivaldi and Poulenc - as well as Haydn's 'Te Deum' and Handel's 'Hallelujah' Chorus with fireworks.

At the start of the concert, Los Angeles Philharmonic President and Chief Executive Officer Deborah Borda delivers a tribute to Ernest Fleischmann, former LA Phil Executive Vice President and Managing Director. Fleischmann, whose history with the LA Phil dates back to 1969, passed away June 13, at the age of 85.

Additionally, a performance of 'Lacrymosa' from Mozart's 'Requiem' (Süssmayer edition) has been added to the concert with the LAMC and the LA Phil, led by Gershon.
