WHAT: Brooklyn-based experimental rock band Dirty Projectors debuts at
Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday, February 27, at 8 p.m. in a co-headlining performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. A collaborative endeavor, the first half of the program features the Los Angeles Philharmonic performing
Philip Glass' Prelude from Akhnaten and
Maurice Ravel's Suite from Mother Goose, chosen by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and
David Longstreth of Dirty Projectors.
For the second half of the program, the Dirty Projectors present The Getty Address, their groundbreaking album released in 2005, performed in full with New York-based contemporary music ensemble Alarm Will Sound, conducted by Artistic Director Alan Pierson in an arrangement by Matt Marks.
Following The Getty Address performance, Dirty Projectors closes the show with a set of material from their most recent and critically acclaimed album, Bitte Orca.
