KLCS-TV, PBS Hosts World Television Premier Tonight, 6/12

By:

Tonight, June 12, 2012 at 9:00pm, (with repeat airings every night for 2 weeks beginning at 1am), the only PBS station still originating from Los Angeles (KLCS-TV) will host its first ever pledge drive in 40 years. Recognizing that the Los Angeles community deserves a special event around something this important, the station is proud to announce they will air the world television premier of the acclaimed film "Hollywood to Dollywood". This documentary swept the festival circuit and has won 24 awards around the globe. With appearances by Leslie Jordan, Chad Allen, Beth Grant, Dustin Lance Black, Ann Walker, and music icon Dolly Parton, it’s a heartwarming, civil rights odyssey.

Featuring 15 songs by Dolly Parton herself, the film tells the true story of identical twin brothers, Gary and Larry Lane. After writing a script with a plum roll for their idol, Dolly Parton, the Lane twins embark on a cross-country journey to deliver it to her in person. With friend and partner Mike Bowen frequently at the wheel, the Lanes drive an RV (named Jolene) from the country music legend’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame all the way to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. This is a road trip full of colorful characters and everyday Americans. The trio even drives head first into a tornado in Arkansas and face floods in Nashville!

KLCS-TV, is LA’s only remaining PBS station. It is the second largest in the nation and one of only 7 licensed to a school district. Deepening budget cuts at the LAUSD have caused KLCS the need to follow a more traditional PBS model and enlist their viewership for support. You can pledge your support of KLCS 24/7 by calling 888-998-KLCS (5527) or by visiting their web site at klcs.org. During the pledge event, those pledging $125.00 or more will receive a DVD copy of the film and anyone pledging $500.00 or more will also receive a hand crafted birdhouse replica of Dolly Parton's childhood home. This premier event will be accompanied by interviews and anecdotes with the stars of the documentary.

Hollywood to Dollywood airs tonight, June 12, 2012 at 9:00pm with repeat airings every night for 2 weeks beginning at 1am. Direct webpage link: http://klcs.org/h2d.asp
