The Upright Cabaret is proud to announce the Los Angeles debut of acclaimed singer-songwriter and musical theater composer Jeremy Schonfeld. The 9:00pm concerts will take place on Friday, February 26 & Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Upright at Vermont, 1714 Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles CA.

Scheduled to appear along with Schonfeld are Shoshana Bean, Christian Campbell, JULIE GARNYE, AMERICA OLIVO, Adam Pascal and Tracie Thoms.

Hailed by The New York Times as a blend of Jonathan Larson and Billy Joel, Schonfeld's singular blend of tuneful pop, hard-edged rock, gospel, soul and blues has made him one of today's most sought after musical theater composers. The February concerts will feature an eclectic mix of brand new material from upcoming projects, as well as familiar favorites from the acclaimed concept album and musical Drift; and the previously released albums"37 Notebooks," and "Blue Skies & All".

A recent production of Drift at Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy (Raleigh NC) garnered Schonfeld Indy Week's "Best of 2009" notices for "Best Original Music", citing Schonfeld at the "clear winner" for his "courageous rock and soulful song-cycle (which) sensitively articulated a series of moments in a divorce ... a prismatic set of rocking, thoughtful, raging, aching-but ultimately joyous-confessions." Show Business Weekly previously lauded Drift for its " ... hard-edged rock sound that (Schonfeld) can wrap in a velvet glove when he wants, with startling results."

Recent and upcoming theatrical projects include and a new musical inspired by Schonfeld's song "Greta" from the album "37 Notebooks", and the new holiday musical, It Happened One Christmas, commissioned by the Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theatre of North Carolina.

In addition to "37 Notebooks," which featured the vocal talents of Shoshana Bean, Amy Spanger, Lauren Kennedy, Luther Creek, and Kate Shindle, among others, other recent projects include the feature film Clear Blue Tuesday; as well as the musicals HOME (featuring the vocal talents of Sara Ramirez and J. Robert Spencer) and innumerable ATRAINPLAYS; and the Broadway Dreams Foundation's "Broadway Bootcamp," for which Schonfeld serves on the Board of Directors and as Musical Director. Schonfeld has also performed and contributed original music for numerous benefit concerts including "Rockers on Broadway," "Defying Inequality," "Broadway in South Africa," "The Pink Campaign on Broadway," and "Broadway for a New America," among others. Schonfeld's recording of "Song for New Orleans," featuring Adam Pascal, is currently being used as part of a recruitment video for the American Red Cross.

Recent performances in New York include Madison Square Garden, Birdland, BB Kings, Town Hall, The Public Theatre, Symphony Space, and Lincoln Center; the 14th Street Playhouse in Atlanta; and in Boston as part of Boston University's "BU on Broadway" series.
