On the weekend of June 24 - 26, hundreds of bidders, along with a slate of celebrity guests, will bid on an exceptional collection of artwork, sculpture, photography, furnishings and more at the second annual Art Project Los Angeles. The event -- a premier, red-carpet charity art auction and artists reception -- is a benefit for APLA, which provides life-saving care for thousands of Angelenos living with HIV/AIDS.

The auction, created by Hamilton-Selway Fine Art Gallery, is backed by an exceptional roster of celebrities who serve on its Entertainment Support Committee, including co-chairs Jackie Collins and Barry Krost (both of whom are scheduled to appear);Joan Collins, La Toya Jackson, Jenifer Lewis, Jennifer Love Hewitt,Ron Rifkin, and many more.

World-renowned auction house Bonhams & Butterfields, founded in 1793, will serve as the perfect venue for this premier event. Bonhams is one of the world's oldest and largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques.

Up for auction include works by artists including Basquiat, Haring, Hockney, Longo, Picasso, Ruscha, and Warhol.

Among the most exclusive items for auction will be a guitar autographed by Jennifer Lopez and donated by Hard Rock Café exclusively for Art Project Los Angeles. Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to sign the guitar at a gala tonight, May 3, at the Hard Rock Café in Hollywood at 6:00 p.m.

APLA's auction will also feature works from exciting local and emerging artists, produced in a range of genres -- including kinetic sculpture and graffiti art -- and with an assortment of media: Cibachrome, Plexiglas, oil, and spray paint. Other artists of note include Stephen Holland, Brad Howe, Burton Morris, and Robert Kuo.

The event's signature attraction, a red carpet, VIP cocktail party and live charity auction, takes place on Friday, June 24, from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The event will launch on Friday evening with an artists' reception and continues Saturday morning with a silent charity auction, which is free and open to the public. Tickets to the Saturday evening affair are available at apla.org.

Event sponsors include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Clear Channel Los Angeles Radio, Hamilton-Selway Fine Art, Metrosource Magazine, and Red Diamond.

APLA is launching a new partnership with Hard Rock Café, featuring a May 18 concert event at Hard Rock's Hollywood location to kick off the official countdown to Art Project Los Angeles.
