Ithaca College to Host 'Theatre Showcase' Event

The Silent Movie Theatre in Hollywood will host the Ithaca College Theatre Department's first annual "Theatre Showcase" event on Monday, March 12, 2007. Students in the Ithaca's performance program, one of the oldest in America, will get an opportunity to gain West Coast exposure by presenting their talent to to significant folks in Los Angeles' theatre community and entertainment industry.

In press notes, Ithaca Theatre Director Lee Byron states, "As the performance program has grown, and as alums continue to appear on and off-Broadway and in national and international tours, primetime and daytime television, feature films, industrials, national commercials, the Department felt that it was time to 'head west' in order to give our talented students different opportunities and experiences."

The production will take place from 6PM-8PM, and feature a tribute to Ithaca's successful Los Angeles-based alumni and a program featuring twenty students from the B.F.A. Program. Honorary Co-chairs for the event include Caroleen Feeney, Gavin MacLeod, C.C.H. Pounder, and Jay TarsesThe featured talent includes:

The Department of Theatre Arts at Ithaca College is one of the oldest, continuing training programs in the country awarding degrees in Elocution and Expression starting in 1898 and Drama in 1921. Offering six degree programs only at the undergraduate level, Ithaca Alumni are working all over the world.
