Inner City Cultural Center to Honor George Takei and Robert Kennard Tonight
Nate Holden Performing Arts Center 50th Anniversary Gala honors George Takei and Robert Kennard tonight. The event also honors the legacy of ICCC's founder, C. Bernard Johnson (also known as Jack). ICCC provided a platform for many residents and those who came to Los Angeles to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
A partial list of Inner City alumni, supporters, and contributors include such luminaries as: Gregory Peck, Mako, Luis Valdez, Alvin Ailey, Beah Richards, Robert Wise, Paul Winfield, Twyla Tharp, Denzel Washington, Carmen Zapata, Marla Gibbs, Pat Morita, Ted Lange, Louis Gossett, Jr., Ruth Warshawsky, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Eddie and Margo Albert, George Takei, Glynn Turman, Bonnie Bedelia, Art Evans, Soon Tek Oh, Nobu McCarthy, Janet Jackson, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs and Donald McKayle, among many others, who were instrumental in advancing the mission of the Inner City Cultural Center.
