Hollywood Fringe Announces 2018 Fringe Scholarships Program

Hollywood Fringe is proud to announce the 2018 Fringe Scholarships program.

Created in 2016, the Fringe Scholarships Program exists to expand and diversify the pool of artists producing work at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

The inaugural program offered free registrations to five Hollywood Fringe productions, and the 2017 Fringe Scholarships program expanded thanks to a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts. Ten scholarships will be awarded this year.

Fringe Scholarships are available to first-time Hollywood Fringe producers who self-identify as contributing to the ethnic, cultural, racial, age, mentally or physically disabled, sexual orientation, or gender identity diversity of the Fringe community. Applications for the program open today.

Each award will include:

- Free registration for one Hollywood Fringe production
- A $550 stipend towards venue and production costs
- A Fringe mentor-an experienced Hollywood Fringe participant who will guide you through the process
- Marketing and networking opportunities as a member of the Fringe community

Fringe Scholarships will be awarded after review by our scholarship committee, consisting of a jury of previous Fringe participants, scholarship winners and members of select outside organizations.

The Hollywood Fringe Festival is an annual, open-access, community-derived event celebrating freedom of expression and collaboration in the performing arts community. Each June during the Hollywood Fringe, the arts infiltrate the Hollywood neighborhood: Fully equipped theaters, parks, clubs, churches, restaurants and other unexpected places host hundreds of productions by local, national, and international arts companies and independent performers.

Participation in the Hollywood Fringe is completely open and uncensored. This free-for-all approach underlines the festival's mission to be a platform for artists without the barrier of a curative body. By opening the gates to anyone with a vision, the festival is able to exhibit the most diverse and cutting-edge points-of-view the world has to offer. Additionally, by creating an environment where artists must self-produce their work, the Fringe motivates its participants to cultivate a spirit of entrepreneurialism in the arts.
