Golden Age Theater Presents THE AUTOMAGIC HORSE December 19

By:

A special one night only performance of L. Ron Hubbard's pulp fiction story, "The Automagic Horse" will take place Saturday, 19 December at 7:30 PM in the Golden Age Theater located at 7051 Hollywood Blvd, (the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Sycamore, one block west of Grauman's Chinese Theatre). See www.goldenagetheater.com for details.

Featured performers include Robert Towers ("Curious Case of Benjamin Button," Benjamin 1932-1934), Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart Simpson), Phil Proctor (Big Brother, Rugrats, Finding Nemo, and Princess and the Frog), Josh Robert Thompson (voice of "Fake" Arnold Schwarzenegger on "Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson"), Pete Scalia (ABC news co-anchor) and narrated by R.F. Daley (Broadway actor "Cats" and "Sweeny Todd").

"The Automagic Horse" was a spoof written by Hubbard and published in Astounding Science Fiction in the October 1949 issue and tells the story of "Gadget" O'Dowd and his merry crew of special-effects wizards in their attempt to cajole and wheedle money from a major Hollywood movie studio to fund a secret project with the stars as its destination.

Hubbard had worked for Columbia Pictures writing weekly serials and was very qualified to poke fun at the industry. The story became a favorite. In Astounding's readers poll, which ranked the most popular stories in each issue, The Automagic Horse won the top slot.

Doors open at 6:00 PM. Free parking. Complementary cheese and desserts plus refreshments served before and after the performance. Show starts at 7:30 PM. You must RSVP Joni Labaqui at 323-466-3310 or order tickets online at www.goldenagetheater.com.

The Automagic Horse is one of 153 stories published in 80 books in the line of Stories from the Golden Age written by Hubbard in the 1930s and 1940s. For more information, go to www.goldenagestories.com.
