Ernest A. Figueroa, who recently took over as Artistic Director of The Group Rep at the Lonny Chapman Theatre, has chosen to open his first season with Rep*A*Trois, an ambitious rotating repertory of three distinguished plays.

"It has been years since The Group Rep has had a pre-announced season of plays," said Figueroa. "The season will open with a collection of plays featuring phenomenal roles. This is the best way to show off our talented membership of multi-generational actors. Each role is a gem and each play, a powerhouse."

The plays in Rep*a*Trois complement one another, each illuminating different facets of the human condition. Written by playwrights known for their rapier wit and ability to bring a strong, emotional truth to the stage, this trio of plays includes an Olivier Award Winner for the Best New Comedy and a Pulitzer Prize Play Nominee.

Rep*a*Trois opens September 17th with a Special Thursday evening performance of HEROES, and continues Friday, September 18th with the evening opening of PAINTING CHURCHES. Wrapping up the Rep, BOSTON MARRIAGE opens Saturday evening, September 19th. The plays run 13 performances in rotating rep through Sunday, November 8, which allows theatre patrons to see all three shows in a single weekend. Rep*a*Trois runs September 17th and plays in rep through November 8th, 2009.

Rep*a*Trois includes : HEROES, brilliantly adapted by Tom Stoppard from an original work by Gerald Sibleyras; a poignant, hilarious comedy that chronicles the great escape of three veterans from their retirement home, directed by Gregg T. Daniel; The comic drama PAINTING CHURCHES by Tina Howe, directed by Kappy Kilburn, is a moving family affair, a theatrical portrait of the complex relationship between aging parents and their artist daughter as she struggles to come to terms with them and they with her. BOSTON MARRIAGE directed by Lisa Wolpe, written by David Mamet, provides a wonderful play of language set in a Victorian world, and could adopt the slogan "what happens in Boston stays in Boston."

The Lonny Chapman Theatre is located at 10900 Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood 91601.
