Comedy Farce PSYCHE ON VINE Opens in Hollywood
Psyche on Vine, a new satirical comedy written by Sean Whalen and Doug Van Bebber, kicks off a six week run at The Three Clubs in Hollywood beginning July 21. This interactive theater piece is directed by Kathleen Randazzo and is being presented under the auspices of the Actors' Equity Association of Los Angeles Self-Produced Project Code.
Psyche on Vine skewers LA's obsession with quick-fix psychotherapy by presenting a fine dining restaurant where all the waiters are trained and licensed clinical psychologists. The play features a number of notable film, television and stage actors including Sean Whalen (Never Been Kissed, Twister), Sean Carrigan (The Young and the Restless), Cathy Shambley (The Groundlings), as well as a host of comedic co-stars.
This immersive comedy is being performed in the theater space at the award-winning Three Clubs and puts theatergoers right in the middle of the action. Says director Kathleen Randazzo, "Psyche on Vine draws the audience in by seating them at tables in this crazy restaurant while all the insanity plays out around them." Writer and star Sean Whalen agrees, "The real fun of this piece is that the actors not only get to play off each other, but also off the people watching the show." The play has already caught the attention of noteworthy members of the television industry, including Al Septien, Co-Executive Producer of NBC's Midnight, Texas, who raves, "Psyche on Vine is comic genius. A funhouse mirror reflection of our psycho-babble obsessed society." Psyche on Vine runs Fridays (8 pm) and Saturdays (7:30 pm) from July 21 through August 26 at The Three Clubs located at 1123 Vine Street Los Angeles, CA 90038.
