Clairobscur Dance Company Brings no option, choice, preference to the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center

By:

With extraordinary dancers and eloquent choreography, Los Angeles based, Clairobscur Dance Company presents it's evening: no option, choice, preference. This performance features one world premiere and repertory works. Choreographed by Artistic Director Laurie Sefton in collaboration with composers Mark Hadley and Bryan Curt Kostors, it will be performed for one night only, March 18, 2017, 8:00pm at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center.

Following their recent performance in New York, Clairobscur returns to Los Angeles to present their newest evening of works. Dense and detailed movement leads to explicit and subliminally kinetic communication about climate change, bullying, and sexual fluidity.

Acclaimed Artistic Director and Choreographer Laurie Sefton presents the world premiere of Girl, Get Off, a work for six dancers with a sound scape created by Bryan Curt Kostors. Girl, Get Off is filled with sexual fluidity from a woman's point of view. This intensely sensual work is imbued with intricate details and dense movement that explores the idea that love is love, and that the freedom to experience joy and mutually consensual pleasure is a birthright and independent of gender identity.

The program also includes two collaborations with composer Mark Hadley: desiccated earth/California, which tackles issues related to climate change and reflects our purlieu and our impact upon it. As well as, the critically acclaimed Bully, which explores the circumstances surrounding the bully and the victim; the evolution of their roles and the consequences of their relationship.
