By:

Casa 0101 Theater, with Josefina López as the Artistic Director, will present the American Premiere of THE IMAGINARY LIFE OF THE STREET SWEEPER, AUGUST G. written by Armand Gatti, translated into English and directed by Emmanuel Deleage, at the new Casa 0101 Theater (2102 E. First Street (at Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033) on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m., April 20 – May 13, 2012.

Serafín Falcón leads a cast of 31 actors, musicians and dancers in the title role of August G., 46, a street sweeper who receives a blow to the head while striking for better working conditions. As his life flashes before his eyes, all the characters of his life meet for one last rendezvous in a sort of fantastic and desperate dance marathon. The play will coincide with an art exhibit entitled "Revolutionary Visions," curated by Lilia Ramirez and featuring mixed media and experimental contemporary photography.

Tickets are $20 for General Admission, $17 for Students, Seniors and Groups of 10 or more, and $15 for Boyle Heights residents with identification. For tickets, please call the Casa 0101 Theater Box Office at 323-263-7684, E-mail tickets@casa0101.org or buy online at www.casa0101.org. Theatre patrons can get a $2 discount by presenting their Metro Bus Cards at the Box Office when buying tickets. Metro bus stations are located on First Street in Boyle Heights at both Soto Street, and at Boyle Street (Mariachi Plaza), within a short walking distance to the theatre.
