California Roots Partners with Pints for Prostates in NovemBEER

By:

California Roots has announced its partnership with Pints for Prostates for the month of November to help raise awareness for prostate cancer.

All month long, the California Roots Pints are on sale, and for every pint purchased Cali Roots will donate a portion of the proceeds in the fight against prostate cancer. The campaign is aptly titled "NovemBEER Pints for Prostate," with the goal to reach men through the universal language of beer about the importance of regular health screenings and early detection for prostate cancer.

"California Roots is dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle year-round and our partnership with Pints for Prostates is a testament to that mission," states co-producer Dan Sheehan. He adds, "What better way to raise awareness about early and regular health screenings than through pints of beer? For every Cali Roots pint sold in November, we will contribute $2 to Pints for Prostates."

The National Cancer Institute estimates roughly 233,000 new prostate cancer cases are diagnosed each year in the U.S. and it's the second leading cancer causing death in U.S. men behind skin cancer.

"We are always looking for strong partnerships to get in front of men in interesting and meaningful ways," says Rick Lyke, a prostate cancer survivor who founded Pints for Prostates in 2008 after successful treatment for the disease. He adds, "partnering with such a well-respected music and lifestyle festival like California Roots allows us to amplify our message and encourage guys to talk with their doctors about scheduling health screenings. The donations from every pint sold will help our organization's awareness efforts, free men's health screening events, and help fund prostate cancer support groups."

The 8th annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival will take place at the historic Monterey County Fair and Event Center from May 26-28, 2017. The top tier national festival is the premier gathering for the progressive U.S. Reggae and roots music movement, bringing the scene together over Memorial Day weekend in beautiful Monterey, CA.

For more than a decade, U.S. Reggae artists have been organically building a solid foundation from the Hawaiian Islands to the west and east coasts. This new generation of Reggae artists continue to reach new heights of success through prolific music releases, relentless touring, collaboration, and social media savviness. The California Roots Music and Arts Festival was the first major event to take these like minded artists and showcase them in a festival setting. Visit californiarootsfestival.com/about-us.

Pints for Prostates reaches men through the universal language of beer to encourage them to take charge of their health. The group was founded by prostate cancer survivor and beer writer Rick Lyke in 2008. The grassroots effort raises awareness among men about the importance of regular men's health screenings by making appearances at beer festivals, social networking and pro bono advertising. According to the National Cancer Institute, approximately 233,000 new prostate cancer cases are diagnosed annually in the U.S. More information is available at www.pintsforprostates.org.
