Goddess and 'Golden' Girls Silver Screen and Rock Legends on the Auction Block at Bonhams & Butterfields in June

Bonhams & Butterfields' Entertainment Memorabilia auction on June 14, 2009 in Los Angeles will include a wide variety of items related to Hollywood, Rock 'n Roll and Animation Arts. Highlights will include pieces connected to screen goddess Marilyn Monroe, Property from the Estate of beloved 'Golden Girl' Estelle Getty, costumes from the private collection of Hollywood legend, Debbie Reynolds, property from silent and 'Golden Era' Hollywood film director Alfred Raboch, as well as original works from The Peter Golding Collection of Rock 'n Roll Art.

Highlights related to pop icon Marilyn Monroe will be prominently featured at the beginning of the auction including a signed contract between Monroe and actor John Carroll in 1947 (est. $3,000-3,500), a receipt for the star's hairdo for the now legendary birthday party for President John F. Kennedy (est. $300-325); a blank check from Monroe's personal account (est. $25-50) and numerous never-before-seen black and white photographs of the actress.

Also in the sale is a selection of property from the Estate of 'Golden Girl' Estelle Getty including the handbag she carried on the series as she portrayed 'Sophia Petrilllo,' the Emmy she won in 1987-1988 (est. $3,000-4,000), the Golden Globe® Award she won in 1985 (est. $2,500-3,000) and her over-sized eyeglasses (est. $400-600) used on every episode of The Golden Girls, among many other pieces.

In addition, Bonhams & Butterfields will be offering a number of items from The Studio Wardrobe Department, a legendary vintage clothing and memorabilia shop in Hollywood, California. Owned by Rick Pikrone for nearly forty years, clothing from his boutique has been worn by celebrities including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Drew Barrymore and has been featured in numerous movies and television shows such as The Doors (1991), Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and That '70s Show (1998-2006) to name just a few.

Headlining the Rock 'n Roll offerings is a Chinese gong owned and used by John Bonham of Led Zeppelin (est. $80,000-120,000), an Elvis Presley black and white signed photograph to a 20th Century Fox executive, 1960 (est. $2,000-2,500); a John Lennon-gifted engraved sterling silver Cartier box, 1980 (est. $3,000-5,000), a drum set used Meg White in The White Stripes video 'The Hardest Button to Button,' 2003 (est. 4,000-6,000); a Chris Isaak signed, stage-used customized 12-string electric Vox guitar, 1990s (est. $3,000-5,000), and a group of costumes from the film, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (est. 10,000-12,000), among many other lots.

Also featured in the Rock 'n Roll section are works from The Peter Golding Collection. The offering will include select pieces, which span three decades of music history, such as paintings, original artwork, drawings, sketches, studies, and poster sets. Created by some of the most influential figures in Rock 'n Roll art, the lots on offer relate to famous bands, performers, and concert promotions while also commemorating legendary events in music history (estimates vary - see separate release).

Additional highlights from this auction will include a collection of animation cells from select classic Walt Disney films including Peter Pan (est. $6,500-7,500) and Fantasia (est. $4,000-6,000) among countless others.
