Beverly Winwood Presents the Actors Showcase at L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, 11/18

By:

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center will present the first performance in three years of the now-legendary comedy bonanza Beverly Winwood Presents the Actors Showcase. The actors from "Beverly Winwood's acting school" return to the Center's Renberg Theatre for yet another try at Hollywood success. Beverly Winwood returns for an exclusive, one-night-only fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35, and the cast is generously donating all revenue to support the Center's wide array of free and low-cost services.

The all-star cast of Groundlings alumni portrays struggling actors trying to land a TV or film role, gleefully mangling scenes from great movies and plays. The show that "revels in delicious dreadfulness" (Los Angeles Times) returns with a roster scheduled to include two Oscar winners and an Emmy winner among the team of stellar talent: Carrie Aizley, Tim Bagley, Jordan Black, Patrick Bristow, Jennifer Coolidge, Nat Faxon, Rachael Harris, Mike Hitchcock, David Jahn, Phil LaMarr, Michael Loprete, Karen Maruyama, Melissa McCarthy, Chris Parnell, Jim Rash, Cathy Shambley, Mary Jo Smith, Antoinette Spolar, Mindy Sterling and Christen Sussin.

Director Tony Sepulveda conceived Beverly Winwood Presents the Actors Showcase in 2002, and it quickly achieved near mythic cult status with sold-out runs at the Groundlings, the Canon Theatre, and four previous performances at the Renberg.

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Renberg Theatre (200-seat mid-size theatre) is located at The Village at Ed Gould Plaza 1125 N. McCadden Place, Hollywood (one block east of Highland, just north of Santa Monica Blvd. FREE PARKING.) General Admission $35 Tickets available at www.lagaycenter.org/theatre or call 323-860-7300.

Since 1971 the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center has been building the health, advocating for the rights and enriching the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Our wide array of services and programs includes: free HIV/AIDS care and medications for those most in need; housing, food, clothing and support for homeless LGBT youth; low-cost counseling and addiction-recovery services; essential services for LGBT-parented families and seniors; legal services; health education and HIV prevention programs; transgender services; cultural arts and much more.
