BLAMED: AN ESTABLISHED FICTION Wins 2017 Hollywood Fringe Scholarship Award
The Hollywood Fringe Festival has announced Blamed: An Established Fiction as one of the winners of the 2017 Fringe Scholarships.
An objective and independent committee reviewed over 150 applications for this award. The applications were evaluated based on how much impact the production would have on the overall attraction of audience and the production's potential to increase the ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of artists and audience. Each winner reflects Hollywood Fringe's commitment to expand and diversify the pool of artists producing work at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
Blamed: An Established Fiction was previously performed in San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico as a part of the San Diego International Fringe Festival, where it won Best Drama.
These are not your mother's fairy tales. Blamed: An Established Fiction is a new play that combines text with live music and dance to examine the girls and women throughout mythology, history, and literature who have been blamed for the ills of the world. Each culture seems to have one thing in common: A well-known tale in which a girl does something horrible, or is the victim of something horrible, and she ruins everything and everyone around her. From Eve and Pandora to Lilith and La Llorona, Blamed brings the women to life in an intoxicating mix of live music, dance, and story.
Ensemble: Callie Prendiville (playwright), Annie Lavin (choreographer), Erika Schindele, Renee Curtis, Alissa Schoeman, Zoya Martin, Rian Dixon, Norma Mendoza, Alanna Bledman, Justine Sombilon, Camille Vargas, Lillie Muir, and Emily Taylor.
Musicians: Wesley Chavez (composer), Trey Everett, and BRian Johnson (producer).
Performances will play studio/stage, 520 N Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004. Dates: Sunday 6/4 7:30pm, Friday 6/16 6:00pm, Saturday 6/17 6:30pm, Sunday 6/18 9:00pm, Wednesday 6/21 6:00pm, Thursday 6/22 6:30pm. For tickets, visit hff17.com/4539.
