Shelly Garrett Entertainment has announced a 25th Anniversary one night only performance of BEAUTY SHOP, written and directed by Shelly Garrett. BEAUTY SHOP will perform tonight, October 24 at 8pm. This very special 25th anniversary performance will be at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, 4401 W. 8th St., Los Angeles.

The play setting is an urban beauty salon in Los Angeles.

The "Divas Unleashed" Beauty Shop is presided by "Margaret Banks," who spends more time trying to keep peace in the shop than she does doing any hair. Then, there is the wildly crowd-pleasing favorite, "Christopher Rich", the male and gay hairdresser.

If no one ever gets their hair done during the two-act performance, many people will get their heads re-arranged, courtesy of Christopher Rich's lip! No one gets the best of him! Plenty of trash is spoken and the body language is anything but shy.

"BEAUTY SHOP" makes the audience hold their cramping stomachs while laughing. Just when they thought it was safe to catch their breath, here comes another hilarious scene. Without a doubt, there is a laugh-a-minute in this show!

SHELLY GARRETT (Director/Playwright) is "THE GODFATHER OF URBAN THEATRE." His talents have caused him to be a major figure in the entertainment industry. When it comes to laughter in theatre, Shelly Garrett is the master and has been for 31 years, beginning his theatrical career in 1983. "Comedy is a difficult art," he says. "The key is timing and if it's not there, the entire production simply becomes a waste."

Experts have estimated more than four million people saw Shelly Garrett's historical "BEAUTY SHOP" stage play, which still holds box office records in more than 55 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Oakland, San Diego, Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, and Newark.

After seeing Shelly Garrett's "BEAUTY SHOP" in 1990 at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, Tyler Perry said it gave him great inspiration to become a playwright. David E. Talbert said that when he saw Shelly Garrett's "BEAUTY SHOP" in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Theatre, it changed his life. He knew he was destined to become a playwright.

Then there was the ABC television sitcom, "New Attitudes," starring Morris Day, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Phyllis Yvonne Stickney and Janet Dubois ("Good Times"), all based on Shelly Garrett's "BEAUTY SHOP."

Not one, but THREE feature films have been based on Shelly Garrett's popular stage production of "BEAUTY SHOP": "The Salon," starring Vivica A. Fox and Terrence Howard; "Hair Show," starring Mo'Nique; and "Beauty Shop," starring Queen Latifah.

The cast of BEAUTY SHOP will feature: Kym Whitley, Lauren Elliott, Tiffany Haddish, Harold Bell, Milena Gy, Rodney Van Johnson, Cocoa Brown, Dorian Wilson, Devereau Chumrau, Retha Jones and Jackie Christie.

BEAUTY SHOP is produced by Shelly Garrett, Doris Garrett, Kym Whitley and Michael C. Kricfalusi.

BEAUTY SHOP will have a single performance on Friday, October 24 at 8pm at The Wilshire Ebell Theatre, 4401 W. 8th St., Los Angeles, CA. Tickets are $45 to $75 and are available online at www.beautyshopplay.com or at the box office. The box office is open Mon-Fri from 10am to 4pm.
