BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL Returns To LA June 13

The award-winning Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will close their 15th season with Larry O'Keefe, Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming's BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL. The performance will take place on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 7:30 PM at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale.

Using virtually every style of music - country, Gospel, pop, rock, tango, opera and show - BAT BOY tells the engrossing story of a half-boy, half-bat found in a cave who learns to speak and gains a family, romance and a home... until society takes it all away. The message: "Don't Deny Your Beast Inside". Created in Los Angeles in 1997, this remarkable entertainment was recognized as "Best New Off-Broadway Musical" by the 2001 Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle Awards. MTG's staging marks its 10th Off-Broadway Anniversary!

BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL will star Jeffrey Christopher Todd as Bat Boy with Cynthia Ferrer as Meredith, Kevin Symons as Dr. Parker and Melissa Lyons as Shelly. In supporting roles are Dina Bennett, Chris Warren Gilbert, Scott Harlan, Roy Leake, Jr., Shauna Markey and Erik McEwen. BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL will be directed by Joel Bishoff with musical direction by Matt Smedal and choreography by Kirsten Chandler. The MTG production coordinators are Eileen Barnett and Kim Huber. The Musical Theatre Guild's 16th Anniversary 2011-2012 season will open in September, 2011 and includes HIGH FIDELITY (September 19, 2011), FANNY (November 14, 2011), LITTLE WOMEN (February 13 and 19, 2012), A NEW BRAIN (April 16, 2012) and concludes with SHENANDOAH (June 11 and 17, 2012).
