And The World Goes 'Round Spins into LA Orbit in Feb. and March

To benefit its new performance space, the West Coast Ensemble Theatre in Hollywood, CA will present the Kander and Ebb revue And The World Goes 'Round from Feb. 24th through 26th and March 3rd through 5th.

The show, which will be directed by Richard Israel, will feature Erika Amato, the frequent BroadwayWorld poster who also leads the band Velvet Chain and who has appeared in regional productions of 42nd Street, Paint Your Wagon, George M! and others. Melissa Bailey, Andrea Covell, Don Cummings, Bill Dispoto, Lilo Grunwald, Johanna Kent, Lisa Picotte, Dana Reynolds, Jan Sheldrick, Brian Weir and Peter Welkin are also in the cast.

Featuring over two dozen classic songs by John Kander and Fred Ebb (such as the title song, "All That Jazz," "Maybe This Time," "A Quiet Thing," and "Kiss of the Spider Woman"), And The World Goes 'Round won the 1991 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical Revue. Originally directed by Scott Ellis with choreography by Susan Stroman (the two conceived the show with David Thomson), And the World Goes 'Round featured Karen Mason, Karen Ziemba, Jim Walton, Robert Cuccioli and Brenda Pressley in its original off-Broadway cast.

For the West Coast production, Johanna Kent provide musical direction with help from Richard Berent. Leslie Stevens will choreograph, and Lisa D. Katz will serve as lighting designer.

The West Coast Ensemble Theatre is located at 1713 North Kenmore at Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, CA. Performances are on Feb. 24 and 25 at 8 PM, Feb. 26 at 3 PM, March 3 and 4 at 8 PM and March 5 at 3 PM Tickets, priced at $30, are available by calling (323) 871-6828.
