Acclaimed Director & Familiar Face Denise Dowse To Direct MULATTO MATH At Whitefire Theatre ImageMdB Productions are thrilled to announce that acclaimed director Denise Dowse, a familiar face in entertainment, will be at the helm of the World Premiere of "Mulatto Math" by playwright Monique DeBose. The show will open March 25th, 2018 at The Whitefire Theatre.

Original music fuels writer/performer Monique DeBose's exploration of race, family and identity through the lens of being mixed race. Mulatto Math: Summing Up the Race Equation in America.

DENISE DOWSE - Director

Denise Dowse, originally from Honolulu Hawaii the daughter of a Naval officer, graduated from Norfolk State University with a BA in English/Theatre. Denise is best known to television audiences for her recurring role as Vice-Principal Mrs. Teasley on the long running hit Beverly Hills 90210 and was a series regular on the sitcom Built to Last. She's guest starred on shows such as BRAVO'S new series The Imposters (recurring), Murder in the First (recurring), ABC's Secrets & Lies, Criminal Minds, Saving Grace, The Mentalist, Law & Order, Charmed, The Guardian (recurring) and The West Wing. Her feature film work includes The Call, Ray, Coach Carter, Reign Over Me and Requiem for a Dream.

When not working in television or film Denise wears other hats. She's been seen onstage throughout Los Angeles in Dr. Morrow's Three Times a Lady, Sassy Mamas, Above the Line, Darker Face of the Earth, Vagina Monologues, South of Where We Live and Othello. As a five time NAACP Best Director recipient Denise began directing in Germany where she held the position of theatre specialist and built a program consisting of active duty military and their families alongside German nationals before moving to Los Angeles and eventually began to direct here.

Denise is also a private audition coach, worked on Girlfriends as their dialogue coach for 4 seasons, Reed Between the Lines for two and was the Resident Director at Amazing Grace Conservatory (a weekend performing arts school for youth ages 8-18) for 18 years. She recently directed Hairspray and Ease on Down the Road for Celerity Schools and the summer of 2016 remounted the 2015 (14 week sold out run) of Recorded in Hollywood at the Kirk Douglas Theatre.
