A Noise Within Presents SUMMER WITH SHAKESPEARE Program
A Noise Within (ANW), the highly regarded classical repertory theatre company and a leading force in arts education, presents SUMMER WITH SHAKESPEARE, an intensive three-week summer program for youngsters ages 10 to 18 offering interactive classes on acting, improvisation, voice, speech, movement technique, textual analysis, stage combat and more from July 6 to 24, 2010, at ANW in Glendale. This year's theme is SHAKESPEARE'S MODERN FAMILY as the camp focuses on the Bard's scenes and monologues that explore the complex relationships between parents and children, Brothers and Sisters, and other family members, and the many twists and turns that accompany them. Led by professional faculty, the program's sessions run Monday through Friday and culminate in a presentation of scenes from the plays of Shakespeare.
Two registration options are available: a Full Day, from 10 am to 4 pm for $750 and a Summer School Special from 1 pm to 4 pm for $600. Registration deadline is June 29, 2010, and space is limited.A Noise Within has been hailed by critics as "adventurous," "compelling and current," "ingenuity at work," "a bona fide class act," and "what great theatre is all about." Founded in 1992, ANW quickly established itself and today maintains its celebrated status as the only year-round classical repertory company in Southern California. The company has attracted fiercely loyal audiences and high praise from the media for its productions of great works of world drama. Educational programming at A Noise Within has always been a priority as the company takes seriously its commitment to augment middle and high school students' classroom discovery of classic texts. The company's educational initiatives have introduced over 180,000 students (over 10,000 per year) to the magic of live classical theatre; over 245 schools (middle and high school through college) have participated in A Noise Within programs; and 200 serious young actors have graduated from the Professional Internship Program. Educational programs at A Noise Within are designed to complement classroom studies and enable teachers to promote literacy and cultural awareness.Videos
